Mike Lieberthal Biography
Mike Lieberthal is a former Major League Baseball catcher best known for his 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, followed by a final season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Drafted third overall in the 1990 MLB Draft, Lieberthal quickly became a cornerstone of the Phillies' lineup, admired for both his offensive production and defensive consistency behind the plate.
Over the course of his career, he posted a .274 batting average with 150 home runs and 610 RBIs. He was a two-time All-Star and won a Gold Glove Award in 1999, a standout season in which he hit .300 with 31 home runs. He also earned National League Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2002 following a major knee injury.
Lieberthal holds several records for Phillies catchers, including most games caught and most home runs at the position. In 2012, he was inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame in recognition of his impact on the team and the city of Philadelphia.
Beyond baseball, Lieberthal has been active in charitable efforts, including initiatives that support children with cancer. He continues to be involved in baseball and remains a respected figure among fans and peers alike.
