Mike Cowan

Mike Cowan, known as "Fluff," is a prominent figure in professional golf, recognized for his extensive career as a PGA Tour caddie. Cowan began his professional caddying career at age 28 after leaving a position as an assistant pro at a private club in Maine. His nickname "Fluff" originated from his resemblance to professional golfer and broadcaster Steve Melnyk, who shared the same moniker. With a background in multiple sports and collegiate golf, Cowan brings a comprehensive understanding of the game to his role.

Cowan worked with Peter Jacobsen for more than 18 years, contributing to six PGA Tour victories. He gained widespread recognition as Tiger Woods' first PGA Tour caddie, starting with Woods' professional debut at the Greater Milwaukee Open. Cowan was on the bag for Woods' first major title at the Masters Tournament, where Woods won by a significant margin. This partnership elevated Cowan's profile within the golf industry, highlighting his expertise in tournament strategy and player support.

Following his tenure with Woods, Cowan became Jim Furyk's caddie, beginning with the Masters Tournament. He was alongside Furyk for his major win at the U.S. Open and continued to work with him during the U.S. Senior Open, which Furyk also won. Cowan's consistency and professionalism have been noted by Furyk and others throughout his career.

Cowan has participated in more than 1,100 tournaments, covering approximately 4,000 rounds and walking over 30,000 miles, according to PGA Tour estimates. He has caddied in 11 Ryder Cups for players including Jacobsen, Fred Couples, Woods, and Furyk. His experience extends to the women's game, having caddied for Lydia Ko at the U.S. Open. Cowan's contributions to golf have been recognized with inductions into the Caddie Hall of Fame and the Maine Golf Hall of Fame.
