Michelle Miller

Michelle Miller is a journalist whose career at CBS News spans more than two decades. As a national correspondent for CBS News, Miller served as a co-host on "CBS Saturday Morning." Her experience in broadcast and print journalism includes roles at Los Angeles Times, Star Tribune in Minneapolis, CBS affiliate WWL-TV in New Orleans, WIS-TV in Columbia, S.C., Orange County News Channel, and ABC News' "Nightline" in Washington, D.C. Miller earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Howard University and a master's degree in urban studies from the University of New Orleans.

At CBS News, Miller has reported on stories of national and international significance, with a focus on social justice, breaking news, and investigative journalism. Her coverage includes the killings of George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, and Michael Brown, the Emanuel 9 massacre in Charleston, and sexual assault allegations against public figures. Miller was the first CBS News correspondent on the ground at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and reported extensively on gun law reform efforts, including the March for Our Lives protests. Her international reporting includes coverage of the refugee crisis in the Middle East, the life of Nelson Mandela, and the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.

Miller's reporting has been recognized with several journalism awards, including an Emmy Award for her series on the National Guard's Youth Challenge Academy, an Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of a daycare center stand-off in New Orleans, and participation in the Alfred I. duPont–Columbia Award-winning team for coverage of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. She received a Gracie Award for her report on sex trafficking in "48 Hours: Live to Tell: Trafficked" and a second Gracie for a subsequent "48 Hours" report. TV Week named Miller as one of the "12 to watch in TV news."

Miller is the author of the New York Times bestseller "Belonging: A Daughter's Search for Identity Through Loss and Love," a memoir exploring her family history, personal loss, and identity. Her reporting on social justice issues includes coverage of presidential elections and the climate crisis. The memoir has contributed to Miller's reputation as both a journalist and an author.

In addition to her journalism career, Miller serves as a board member for the School of American Ballet and is a founding member of the Women's Leadership Initiative for the United Way of New Orleans. She has served on the March of Dimes National Communications Advisory Council, participated in the Poynter Institute, and has been a guest lecturer and speaker at institutions including Louisiana State University's Manship School of Mass Communication, Harvard Business School, and the National Model UN Program. Miller's experience encompasses breaking news, investigative reporting, international coverage, and personal storytelling, establishing her as a prominent voice in American journalism.
