Michael W. Mehaffy, PhD, is an internationally recognized urbanist, scholar and advisor whose work bridges cutting-edge research and real-world practice. Dr. Mehaffy has served as a consultant to UN-Habitat in the development of the New Urban Agenda, a landmark international agreement on city livability, and as director of education for King Charles' Foundation. He serves as executive director of the International Making Cities Livable conference series (IMCL). He is the author of "A New Pattern Language for Growing Regions" and, "Cities Alive: Jane Jacobs, Christopher Alexander and the Roots of the New Urban Renaissance."
Dr. Mehaffy is known for translating complex ideas into clear, actionable frameworks for interdisciplinary audiences of planners, policymakers, developers and civic leaders. He speaks on housing affordability, zoning reform, city livability, sustainable urbanism, the future of public space and, increasingly in demand, what artificial intelligence will actually mean for the design and governance of cities.
