Michael Malone

Michael Malone is a basketball coach appointed as head coach of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team. With more than two decades of experience in the NBA, Malone guided the Denver Nuggets to a championship title, achieving over 500 career wins and multiple playoff appearances. His move to college basketball brings professional expertise to one of the sport's most recognized programs.

Malone's coaching career includes head coaching roles with the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets, as well as assistant coaching positions with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Hornets, and Golden State Warriors. Former Tar Heels players, including Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Green, have endorsed the hire, noting his focus on winning and commitment to elevating North Carolina basketball.
