Michael Isikoff

Michael Isikoff is an American investigative journalist and news analyst widely known for his reporting on national security, political scandals, and government accountability. He currently serves as a news analyst for MSNBC - American cable news network and appears frequently as a commentator on major news programs including Meet the Press and other national broadcast and radio outlets.

Isikoff joined Newsweek - magazine in June 1994 as an investigative correspondent, where he covered the Whitewater controversy - 1990s political investigation and other major national stories. He gained widespread recognition in 1998 for his exclusive reporting on the Monica Lewinsky scandal - 1998 political controversy, work that drew national media attention and was later profiled in both The New York Times - newspaper and The Washington Post - newspaper. His reporting also earned him a guest appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, reflecting the broad public interest generated by his investigative work.

Before joining Newsweek, Isikoff worked at The Washington Post - newspaper beginning in September 1981. During his tenure there, he reported on the United States Department of Justice - federal agency, covered the Gulf War - 1990–1991 conflict, investigated international drug trafficking networks in Latin America, and contributed to the newspaper’s financial news coverage. Prior to joining the Post, he worked as a reporter for the now-defunct Washington Star - newspaper.

Isikoff’s investigative journalism has been recognized with several honors. He was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize - journalism award in 1991 for his reporting on gun trafficking and violence. He also received the Baltimore-Washington Newspaper Guild - journalism association “Story of the Year” award in 1984 for a series examining coal mining disasters in Virginia, United States.

In addition to his broadcast and reporting work, Isikoff is also an author and continues contributing to public discourse on politics and investigative journalism. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis - private university, where he earned a B.A. in 1974, and received a master’s degree in journalism from Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University - journalism school in 1976.

As of recent years, Isikoff remains active as a media analyst, focusing on political investigations, national security issues, and major news developments through television, radio, and digital platforms.
