Mel Herbert

Mel Herbert, MD, MBBS, BMedSci, FACEP, FAAEM is a renowned emergency physician, educator, and innovator in the field of medical education. Originally from Australia, Dr. Herbert earned his medical degree from Monash University in Melbourne before completing his emergency medicine residency at UCLA.

He is the founder and CEO of EM:RAP (Emergency Medicine: Reviews and Perspectives), a groundbreaking monthly audio education series that delivers cutting-edge emergency medicine content to thousands of healthcare professionals around the world. He also co-founded Hippo Education, a platform committed to transforming medical education through engaging and accessible content.

In addition to his work in digital education, Dr. Herbert serves as the conference chair for Essentials of Emergency Medicine, one of the largest and most respected independently run emergency medicine conferences. He is also a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of medical professionals.
