Megan Gallagher is an Oslo-based, American-born screenwriter and creator whose career spans continents and genres, contributing to contemporary television drama. After attending film school and working in television development in Los Angeles, Gallagher relocated to Norway, where she began her work in Nordic noir as the genre gained international attention.
Gallagher created and wrote the crime Netflix Original series "Borderliner," a Nordic-noir crime drama centered on a police detective who covers up a murder case to protect his family. She also created and wrote "Seizure" for Viaplay, an eight-part thriller about two newly partnered detectives searching for a missing child. Her Scandinavian projects provided a unique creative perspective, and Gallagher has noted that working in Norway influenced her storytelling approach, emphasizing the power of what remains unsaid.
Expanding her work in the UK and Nordic markets, Gallagher wrote and executive produced the BBC psychological crime thriller "Wolf," adapted from Mo Hayder's Jack Caffery novels. She also wrote two episodes of Apple's drama/thriller "Suspicion." Across these projects, Gallagher blends thriller elements with emotional characterization, focusing on suspense and the complexities of human relationships.
Gallagher served as writer, creator, and executive producer on "All Her Fault," an adaptation of Andrea Mara's best-selling novel. The mystery thriller miniseries for Peacock stars Sarah Snook, Jake Lacy, and Dakota Fanning. Gallagher's adaptation shifted the story from Dublin to Chicago and centered the narrative on themes such as gendered blame, the mental load of parenthood, and the social pressures on working mothers, integrating social commentary within a thriller format.
The Critics' Choice and Golden Globe-nominated series became Peacock's biggest original launch, amassing 46 million hours viewed in its first three weeks, and stands as Sky's highest-performing drama. "All Her Fault" was announced as the most-watched original series launch in Peacock's history and received two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards: Best Limited Series and Best Actress – Miniseries for Snook.
Among Gallagher's projects is "The Blame," an ITV drama developed with Quay Street Productions, adapted from Charlotte Langley's novel and starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, with Gallagher serving as lead writer and executive producer.
