Maya DiRado

Maya DiRado, a retired competitive swimmer, has an impressive portfolio of accomplishments in the pool. Specializing in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and individual medley events, she made significant strides throughout her career. DiRado's skill was demonstrated at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games where she won gold in the women's 4x200 meter freestyle relay and the 200 meter backstroke. Additionally, her performance earned her a silver medal in the 400 meter individual medley and a bronze medal in the 200 meter individual medley. Prior to this, DiRado achieved gold at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona as part of the 4x200 meter freestyle relay team.

DiRado's accomplishments extend beyond the Olympic Games, showcasing her consistency and dedication to the sport. In 2014, the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships saw her secure gold in the 200 meter medley and silver in the 400 meter medley. The same year, she was named the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year, further cementing her place in the sport's history. Her success culminated in her membership of the 2016 USA Olympic swimming team, which led to her retirement from competitive swimming in August 2016.

Even in retirement, DiRado continues to contribute to the swimming community. She serves as a board member for the United States Swimming Foundation and USA Swimming, using her experience to guide and support the next generation of swimmers. In 2020, she addressed the leadership council at the University of Minnesota, imparting knowledge about team player dynamics and leadership in swimming. Currently part of the Investor Relations team at General Catalyst in San Francisco, DiRado underscores the importance of adaptability and transferable skills.
