Matthew Sheldon is an American professional soccer player and YouTuber, currently playing as a right-back for USL Championship club Detroit City FC. Raised in Portland, Oregon, Sheldon developed a love for soccer at an early age and eventually played collegiate soccer at UC Davis from 2011 to 2014. His early career included stints in the Premier Development League and a brief move to Germany before making his professional debut in 2016 with Orange County Blues. Since then, Sheldon has played for multiple USL clubs, including Saint Louis FC, FC Tulsa, Charleston Battery, Hartford Athletic, and now Detroit City FC.
In addition to his soccer career, Sheldon is known for his popular YouTube channel, Become Elite, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a professional soccer player. With hundreds of thousands of subscribers and millions of views, his content has made him one of the most recognizable player-creators in the sport. He also co-hosts a podcast called Against All Odds. Off the field, Sheldon is married to Mimi Estelle and credits his parents for their unwavering support throughout his athletic journey, citing them as his biggest motivation to pursue a professional career.
