Matt Hasselbeck

Matt Hasselbeck is a former National Football League (NFL) quarterback who spent 17 seasons in professional football, most notably with the Seattle Seahawks, before moving into broadcasting and, more recently, high school coaching.

Born in Boulder, Colorado, Hasselbeck grew up in Massachusetts and attended Xaverian Brothers High School. He played college football at Boston College, where he became a two-year starter. The Green Bay Packers selected him in the sixth round of the 1998 NFL Draft.

Hasselbeck became the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks in 2001 and enjoyed the most successful stretch of his career there. He led Seattle to six playoff appearances, three NFC West titles and Super Bowl XL, where the Seahawks faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Hasselbeck finished his NFL career with 36,638 passing yards, 212 touchdowns and 153 interceptions. He also played for the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts.

After retiring from the NFL following the 2015 season, Hasselbeck joined ESPN as a football analyst, most prominently appearing on "Sunday NFL Countdown." He left ESPN in 2023 and subsequently returned to coaching.

In 2024, Hasselbeck joined the football staff at The Ensworth School in Nashville as offensive coordinator, working alongside his younger brother, Tim Hasselbeck, who became the school's head football coach. Before moving to Nashville, he coached quarterbacks at Xaverian Brothers, including his son Henry. At Ensworth, he has focused on developing young players and running the offense while helping mentor the school's football program.
