Matt Grevers

Matthew Grevers, a former competitive swimmer, is a six-time Olympic medalist with a total of four gold medals. His first Olympic golds were secured as a member of the U.S. teams in the 4×100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter medley relays in 2008. He continued his winning streak at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he clinched gold medals in the 100-meter backstroke and the 4×100-meter medley relay. Grevers has also set world records in swimming, holding the world record in the Men's 100-meter backstroke (short course) from 2015 to 2017 and in the Mixed 4 × 50 metres freestyle relay since 2014.

Grevers' success extends beyond the Olympics, with a total of thirty-three medals in major international competitions. At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, he won gold medals in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay and the 4×100-meter medley relay. His noteworthy performance continued at the 2013 FINA World Championships where he secured a gold in the 100-meter backstroke and a silver in the 50-meter backstroke. In 2017, he qualified for the World Championships by winning the 100-meter backstroke at the US National Championships, going on to earn gold medals in the 4x100-meter medley and mixed medley relays, and a bronze in the 50-meter backstroke at the Championships.

Grevers has been recognized for his contributions and achievements in swimming, with an induction into the Northwestern University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 and becoming a member of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. As of 2024, he serves as an Assistant volunteer coach at the University of Arizona and is a partner and co-owner of the DeMont Family Swim School.
