Mark Strong

Mark Strong is an English actor known for his work across stage, film, and television. Trained at Royal Holloway, University of London, and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Strong developed his craft through performances at the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. His early television roles introduced him to British audiences, with notable appearances in BBC Two dramas "Our Friends in the North" and "The Long Firm," the latter earning him a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actor, as well as recurring roles in ITV's "Prime Suspect."

Strong's transition to film established him as a versatile actor in both British and Hollywood productions. His film credits include "Stardust," "RocknRolla," "Sherlock Holmes," "Kick-Ass," "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," "Zero Dark Thirty," "The Imitation Game," and "1917." He has appeared in franchise films such as "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" as Merlin, and as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana in "Shazam!" and "Shazam! Fury of the Gods." Strong has worked with directors including Ridley Scott, Guy Ritchie, and Matthew Vaughn, and is recognized for bringing psychological depth to a range of roles, including antagonists.

In addition to his film and television work, Strong has maintained a significant stage presence. His performance as Eddie Carbone in Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge" at the Young Vic earned him the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor, and the Broadway transfer led to a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play. Strong also played the title role in Robert Icke's adaptation of Sophocles' "Oedipus" in London's West End, earning a second Olivier Award nomination, and later on Broadway at Studio 54, where he received another Tony nomination.
