Mark Daigneault Biography
Mark Daigneault is the incumbent head coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Prior to his position with the Thunder, Daigneault spent five seasons as the head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's G-League affiliate, where he earned three NBA G League Coach of the Month awards and led the team to four playoff appearances. In the 2022-23 season, Daigneault led the Thunder to the NBA play-in tournament as the tenth seed and achieved a 16-win improvement from the previous season.
Following the success of the 2022-23 season, Daigneault signed a multi-year contract extension with the Thunder before the start of the 2023–24 season. It was in 2023-24 that Daigneault was named NBA Coach of the Year, further establishing his reputation within the NBA. He also received the NBCA Coach of the Year award in 2024 and was selected as an NBA All-Star Game head coach in 2025. In 2025, he coached the Thunder to the NBA Championship, where they won against the Indiana Pacers in Game 7.
Described as "open-minded, innovative, and unconventional" in his coaching approach, Daigneault has been lauded for his ability to connect with players and adapt his strategies. Throughout the Thunder's rebuilding phase, Daigneault led the team to multiple seasons ranking within the top-10 in defense.
