Mark Aesch is a strategic leadership expert, senior advisor at the Boston Consulting Group, CEO of TransPro Consulting and author of “Driving Excellence.” He is best known for his tenure as chief executive officer of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority, where he led one of the most notable public sector turnarounds in modern transit history. Under his leadership, longstanding multi‑million‑dollar deficits were transformed into sustained surpluses, reliance on taxpayer subsidies was reduced, demand for service grew significantly, and, in an unprecedented move, fares were lowered after remaining unchanged for more than a decade.
Aesch’s approach centers on treating riders as customers, creating organizational buy‑in, and applying private‑sector performance principles to public‑sector operations. His turnaround strategies and leadership insights have been featured in major media, and he speaks widely on strategic leadership, service excellence and high‑performance public management. He holds bachelor’s degrees in communications and history from the State University of New York at Brockport and lives in Tampa, Florida.
