Marianna Sotomayor

Marianna Sotomayor is a Pulitzer Prize-winning political journalist recognized for her coverage of Capitol Hill. Sotomayor graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in political communication and a master's degree in media and strategic communication. She was the inaugural recipient of the George Washington University–White House Correspondents' Association scholarship and holds professional affiliations with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Before joining major national news outlets, Sotomayor completed internships and fellowships at Campaigns and Elections Magazine, The Hill, CNN Washington Bureau, and participated in POLITICO Journalism Institute. She joined NBC News as a Tim Russert Fellow, serving as a general assignment field producer, web producer for the political unit, and research assistant for Meet the Press. During her tenure at NBC News, Sotomayor interviewed members of Congress on TODAY, MSNBC, and NBC Nightly News. She spent five years at NBC News, covering Congress and Joe Biden's presidential campaign, before joining The Washington Post.

At The Washington Post, Sotomayor reported on Democratic and Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives, focusing on the ideological, cultural, and personality-driven dynamics shaping policy and political debates on Capitol Hill. Her reporting included stories affecting the Hispanic community, particularly during the 2020 elections, when she identified gaps in coverage of Hispanic issues. Sotomayor covered topics such as border security negotiations and the growing influence of Hispanic lawmakers, using her perspective as a Hispanic journalist to inform her work. Her reporting at The Post earned her a Pulitzer Prize for congressional coverage.

After five years at The Washington Post, Sotomayor joined Puck News as a Capitol Hill correspondent, continuing her in-depth reporting on Congress, politics, campaigns, and policy.
