Malik Yoba Biography
Malik Yoba is an NAACP Image Award-winning actor best known for his work on “New York Undercover,” “Cool Runnings,” “Designated Survivor,” and the smash hit series “Empire”.
A native of the South Bronx and raised in Harlem, Yoba is recognized for his long-standing commitment to community empowerment and youth advocacy.
In 2017, Yoba founded Yoba Development, a diversified portfolio company focused on education, media, and real estate. The firm is mission-driven, providing access for young people of color to the real estate industry through education while simultaneously pursuing sustainable and affordable mixed-use development projects in transitioning neighborhoods.
In the summer of 2021, Yoba underwent quadruple bypass surgery as a result of hereditary heart disease. He is an advocate of plant-based nutrition and walking as medicine.
In 2022, Yoba was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Livingstone College in recognition of his civic impact and cultural contributions.
