Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Maks Chmerkovskiy was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1994. Internationally renowned ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and perennial professional on Dancing with the Stars, Chmerkovskiy became an international star with DWTS. At age 16, Chmerkovskiy opened a youth oriented competitive dance studio with his father, Rising Stars Dance Academy, co-founded Dance with Me Studios, choreographed Las Vegas productions, DWTS tours, Broadway musical dance numbers, music videos and headlined, choreographed his own multi-city tours with family and friends. Chmerkovskiy is married to DWTS pro dancer, Peta Murgatroyd in 2017 and they have a son, Shai.

He is actively involved with ChildHelp, to assist victims of child abuse and neglect through prevention, intervention, and treatment and the Alfalit International, providing literacy and educational programs to the poorest and neediest populations around the world. The past two years Chmerkovskiy has lived and worked in Ukraine on various shows and was in Kyiv when the current war started. He was able to return to the United States and has since started a Humanitarian Aid Fund, Baranova27, with his father and brother. They have shipped over 140 tons of aid along with raising money to build residential units for the citizens of Ukraine.
