Majo Aguilar

María José "Majo" Aguilar Carrillo is a Mexican singer and songwriter. Hailing from the esteemed Aguilar family, often referred to as "the Aguilar dynasty," she is the daughter of singer and actor Antonio Aguilar Hijo and the granddaughter of legendary artists Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre. Her uncle, Pepe Aguilar, and cousins, Leonardo and Ángela Aguilar, are also prominent figures in the music industry.

Aguilar's passion for music ignited at a young age: she composed her first song at six and has since been dedicated to singing, dancing, and songwriting. In 2016, she began producing and sharing her music online, gaining recognition for her unique interpretations of traditional Mexican songs. Her 2017 debut extended play, Tributo, paid homage to her grandparents by featuring covers of their iconic songs, including "Cielo rojo" and "Triste recuerdo."

In 2019, Aguilar signed with Universal Music Group and released her second EP, Soy, showcasing her versatility by blending pop and tropical genres. The EP featured original compositions such as "Un ratito" and "Quiero verte bailar." Her 2021 single "No voy a llorar" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Mexico Popular Airplay chart.

Aguilar's dedication to preserving and innovating within the ranchera genre has earned her critical acclaim, leading to nominations for three Latin Grammy Awards for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album.
