Macklin Celebrini

Macklin Celebrini is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays as a center and alternate captain for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. Celebrini gained recognition during his season with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, where he recorded 86 points, the highest total by an under-17 player in league history. He was named Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Forward of the Year, becoming only the second player in USHL history to win all three awards in the same season.

Celebrini continued his hockey career at Boston University, where he tallied 32 goals and 64 points in 38 games during his freshman year. He earned Hockey East Player of the Year, Hockey East Rookie of the Year, and Hockey East Scoring Champion honors. At age 17, he became the youngest recipient of the Hobey Baker Award and only the fourth freshman to receive the honor, joining Paul Kariya, Jack Eichel, and Adam Fantilli. His collegiate achievements established him as a top prospect for the NHL Draft, where he was selected first overall by the San Jose Sharks.

In his NHL debut, Celebrini scored his first goal and recorded his first assist. During the first half of his rookie season, he led all NHL forwards in puck battle wins per game and was a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league's top rookie. In his second season, he became the sixth teenager in NHL history to record 100 points in a season, joining Wayne Gretzky, Dale Hawerchuk, Mario Lemieux, Jimmy Carson, and Sidney Crosby. Celebrini finished with 115 points, setting a new franchise record for most points by a Sharks player in a single season, surpassing Joe Thornton. He was featured on the cover of EA Sports' "NHL 27," becoming the youngest player to receive that recognition.

Internationally, Celebrini has represented Canada at multiple levels. At the IIHF World U18 Championships, he scored the bronze medal-winning goal in overtime against Slovakia. At the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, he led Team Canada in scoring with four goals and four assists. At the Winter Olympics in Milan, Celebrini was named to Canada's roster as the youngest NHL player on the men's Olympic team. He scored in a 5-0 win over Czechia, surpassing Jonathan Toews as the youngest Canadian NHL player to score an Olympic goal. Among Olympic tournaments with NHL players, he surpassed Evgeni Malkin for the most points by a teenager. Celebrini helped Team Canada win the silver medal and led the tournament in goals. He has established himself as a key player for the San Jose Sharks and a significant figure in Canadian hockey.
