Luc Violette Biography
Luc Violette grew up in Granite Falls, Washington, where he first started curling and the sport of hockey at age 5. Violette would later commit to curling full-time following in the footsteps of his dad, Tom, a two-time national champion (1990, 1992) who represented the United States at two LGT World Curling Championships.
Violette had a very successful junior career qualifying for his first world junior championships at age 14. He finished his junior career as a five-time national champion (2014, 2017-20) including winning a silver medal representing Team USA at the world junior men’s curling championships in 2017. He also represented the United States at the Youth Winter Olympics Lillehammer 2016 winning a silver medal in the mixed youth team competition as the skip of the team, coached by his father Tom.
Off the ice, Violette is a civil design engineer. In terms of the relations between curling and engineering; Violette says: “I like the angles, the weird physics (of curling),” as he calculates the right shot he needs to hit for his team on the curling sheet.
