Loretta Devine is an Emmy- and NAACP Image Award-winning actress best known for her unforgettable roles in “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Crash,” “The Preacher’s Wife,” “Waiting to Exhale,” “Boston Public,” “For Colored Girls,” and as one of the original “Dreamgirls” on Broadway.
She continues to be a standout in both comedy and drama, with performances that span generations. With nearly five decades in the industry, Devine has received eight NAACP Image Awards and Lifetime Achievement honors from the NAACP Theatre Awards and the Pan African Film Festival.
Devine earned her BA from the University of Houston and holds an MFA from Brandeis University, as well as an honorary doctorate for her contributions to the arts.
