Lonnie Ali

Lonnie Ali is a philanthropist, businesswoman, and the widow of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. Born Yolanda Williams in Louisville, Kentucky, she grew up blocks away from Muhammad and knew him from childhood. After reconnecting in adulthood, the two married in 1986, and Ali became not only his life partner but also his most trusted supporter as he battled Parkinson’s disease for more than three decades.

Throughout their marriage, Ali played a central role in shaping Muhammad’s legacy outside the boxing ring. She managed his business affairs, protected his brand, and ensured that his humanitarian work remained at the forefront of his public life. Under her guidance, Muhammad’s image as a global ambassador of peace, kindness, and justice was preserved and strengthened, even as his health declined.

Ali also championed the creation of the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, a cultural and educational institution dedicated to promoting Muhammad’s core principles of respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, and spirituality. Since opening in 2005, the Center has become a landmark for social change and inspiration, reflecting both her vision and Muhammad’s enduring values.
