Liz O'Donnell

Liz O'Donnell is an author, entrepreneur, and advocate whose work focuses on caregiving, career development, and women's workplace issues. As the founder of Working Daughter and the author of two books, O'Donnell addresses the challenges faced by women balancing professional responsibilities with caring for aging or ill family members. She brings extensive experience in communications and marketing to her advocacy, having held senior roles at firms such as Weber Shandwick and Double Forte, where she serves as chief strategy and content officer.

O'Donnell's interest in caregiving advocacy stems from personal experience. While managing a career in marketing and raising two children, she became a caregiver for both of her parents, who were diagnosed with terminal illnesses, as well as for her terminally ill husband. These experiences inform her understanding of the unique pressures on working women. In response, she founded Working Daughter, an online community supporting women who balance eldercare, parenting, and careers.

O'Donnell is the author of "Mogul, Mom & Maid: The Balancing Act of the Modern Woman" and "Working Daughter: A Guide to Caring for Your Aging Parents While Earning a Living." Her books have been recognized in the women and business category and by Library Journal. Prior to Working Daughter, she founded the blog Hello Ladies, which was recognized by Forbes, Working Mother Magazine, and BlogHer.

As a speaker and consultant, O'Donnell has collaborated with companies such as Apple, Cigna, and Transamerica to develop workplace strategies that support employee caregivers. She has delivered keynote presentations to organizations including Harvard University, MIT, the Marketing to Moms Conference, and the Women Leading Government Conference. O'Donnell also created National Working Daughters Day, observed on the third Tuesday in November, to honor unpaid family caregivers.
