Lisa Whelchel

Lisa Diane Whelchel is an American actress, singer, songwriter, author, and public speaker. She first gained fame as a Mouseketeer on "The New Mickey Mouse Club" and is best known for her nine-year role as the preppy and wealthy Blair Warner on "The Facts of Life." In 1984, she earned a Grammy nomination for Best Inspirational Performance for her contemporary Christian album "All Because of You." In 2012, Whelchel competed on CBS’s reality series "Survivor: Philippines", tying for second place and being voted fan favorite, earning $100,000.

In February 2026, Whelchel launched her Substack, "Throw Out the Bathwater", sharing 18 years of previously untold stories from her time on "Survivor", silent retreats, and personal life changes.

Since 2004, she has been an inspirational speaker at churches and conferences nationwide. In 2000, she founded Momtime Ministries, a network of mothers’ groups meeting weekly to “equip and refresh and encourage” one another. Beginning in 2009, she toured with Women of Faith conferences, speaking on motherhood, child discipline, and friendship.

Whelchel has authored ten books on topics including motherhood, child discipline, adult friendships, homeschooling, and spiritual growth. She is the bestselling author of "So You’re Thinking About Homeschooling" and "The Facts of Life (and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me)", and her book "Creative Correction" was honored as a Gold Medallion nominee.
