Lewis Hamilton

Sir Lewis Hamilton is a British Formula One driver known for holding the record for career race victories and sharing the record for most drivers' championships, with seven titles, alongside Michael Schumacher. Hamilton began racing go-karts at age 8 and won titles starting at age 10 before making his Formula One debut at age 22. Supported by McLaren and Mercedes, Hamilton advanced through the junior racing categories, winning the British Formula Renault 2.0 title, the Formula 3 Euro Series, and the GP2 Series before entering Formula One.

Hamilton debuted in Formula One with McLaren, achieving podium finishes in his first nine races, winning four Grands Prix, and narrowly missing the championship by one point in his rookie season. The following year, he became World Champion, securing the title with a last-lap overtake at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton later joined Mercedes, a move that shaped the next decade of his career. He matched Schumacher's record with his seventh championship and surpassed Schumacher's record for most career Formula One race victories. Hamilton also holds records for the most consecutive wins from pole position, the most victories from pole, the highest number of fastest laps, and the most points scored in Formula One history.

After winning championships with McLaren and Mercedes, Hamilton began driving for Scuderia Ferrari and celebrated his first victory with the team at the Barcelona Grand Prix. Hamilton became the first Black driver to win the Formula One championship, representing progress in a sport historically lacking diversity. He was knighted for his contributions to motor racing.

Outside of racing, Hamilton established Mission 44, a charity focused on improving education and opportunities for Black students in the United Kingdom and increasing diversity in motorsport and STEM industries. He is also an advocate for gender equality, trans rights, and the LGBTQ+ community. Hamilton's influence extends into fashion, sustainability, and culture, making him a prominent figure in global sports.

Hamilton is credited as a co-producer of the Apple Original film "F1," starring Brad Pitt, with his Dawn Apollo production company involved in the project. He contributed to writing and producing the film, which became a global summer hit, grossing $628 million worldwide. Through his achievements in motorsport, advocacy for social justice, and work in film production, Hamilton continues to shape the landscape of Formula One and inspire audiences worldwide.
