Lei Jun Biography
Lei Jun is a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist known for founding the consumer electronics company Xiaomi Technology, where he serves as executive director, chairman and CEO. He is responsible for the company's overall strategy, culture and key products as well as overseeing the senior management team.
A renowned technology entrepreneur, Lei joined software firm Kingsoft Corporation Limited in 1992 and held several senior positions there. Since December 2011, he has served as Director of the Board at Beijing Kingsoft Office Software, Inc. and in April 2015, he was named Chairman of the Board at Kingsoft Cloud Holdings Limited.
In 2000, Lei founded joyo.com, an online retailing platform, which was acquired by Amazon four years later. As an angel investor, he has also invested in various innovative businesses including JOYY Inc., a Nasdaq-listed live streaming and social media platform, and UCWeb, a Chinese mobile Internet company.
Lei has been named Businessman of the Year by Forbes magazine and to the TIME 100 list. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Wuhan University, which has been a recipient of Lei's considerable philanthropy.
