Lauryn Williams

Lauryn Williams is a certified financial planner, but her name rings a bell in the world of athletics, primarily as an American sprinter and bobsledder. Williams' first notable achievement in the track and field was when she became the World Junior Champion in the 100 m race in Kingston, Jamaica, in 2002. Her prowess in the sport continued to flourish as she won a gold medal in the 100 m at the Pan American Games in 2003 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. A year later, she bagged a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and subsequently crowned it with a gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics held in Helsinki, Finland.

Williams' versatility in athletics extends beyond the track field, as evidenced by her successful switch to bobsledding. Her first significant win in this discipline came when she won her first bobsled gold medal at a World Cup event in Igls, Austria, on January 19, 2014. This success was followed by a silver medal in the two-woman bobsleigh at the 2014 Winter Olympics. These achievements made Williams one of the six athletes worldwide to have won a medal in both the Summer and Winter Olympic games, the first American woman to do so.
