Laurie Holden

Laurie Holden is an American-Canadian actress, producer, model, and human rights activist with a career spanning television and film. Holden's early acting break came with a role alongside Vanessa Redgrave in the TNT mini-series "Young Catherine." She gained wider recognition portraying Marita Covarrubias on the TV series "The X-Files," a role that brought attention to her ability to portray complex characters. Holden made her film debut starring with Jim Carrey in Frank Darabont's "The Majestic," a 1950s period drama that earned her recognition in Entertainment Weekly and Variety.

Holden's performance as Cybil Bennett in the horror film "Silent Hill" demonstrated her versatility across genres. She co-starred with Michael Chiklis in "Fantastic Four" and played Agent Olivia Murray in the final season of the series "The Shield." Her portrayal of Andrea Harrison in AMC's "The Walking Dead" is among her most recognized roles. Holden previously collaborated with Frank Darabont on the film "The Mist" and worked with several co-stars from that project on "The Walking Dead." For her work on the series, she received two Best Supporting Actress nominations, including from the Saturn Awards, and won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Holden has held recurring roles in television series such as "The Americans" and "The Boys," where she played Crimson Countess. She appeared in the crime thriller "Dragged Across Concrete" and joined the cast of the legal drama "Proven Innocent" on Fox as Greta Bellows. As a producer, Holden executive produced the film "Honeytrap," which was nominated at the London Film Festival and distributed in the United States through ARRAY.

Outside her acting career, Holden is an advocate for women's rights and racial justice, and campaigns against sex trafficking. She participated in an undercover operation in Colombia that resulted in the rescue of 55 sex trafficking victims, some as young as 12, in a sting organized by Operation Underground Railroad and Colombian authorities. Holden has also been involved in similar efforts in Cambodia and Vietnam. As a founding board member of the Canadian Somaly Mam Foundation, she has participated in rescue missions targeting child sex traffickers. The Colombia operation was featured on ABC's "Nightline" and is the subject of the documentary "The Abolitionists." Holden serves on the board of Alamasi Collaborative Arts, a Zimbabwean dramatic arts organization, and supports HomeFromHome, a South African non-profit that provides shelter and education for orphans affected by HIV.
