Laufey

Laufey, an Icelandic singer-songwriter and musician, has gained international recognition for her jazz-inspired pop music. She made an impressive debut with her album "Everything I Know About Love," which charted both in Iceland and the United States, reaching number 3 on the US Jazz Albums chart. In 2024, her second album, "Bewitched," earned her the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Beyond her album successes, Laufey's debut single "Street by Street" also secured the top position on Icelandic Radio.

Laufey's talent was apparent from a young age, as demonstrated when she performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at age 15. She further showcased her skills on popular platforms such as "Ísland Got Talent" and "The Voice Iceland." After graduating from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, she signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music in 2023. Laufey also had the opportunity to perform with veteran musician Billy Joel at the Grammy Awards, and she has collaborated with the Philharmonia Orchestra and singer Dodie.

Laufey's music style, which includes elements of jazz, pop, bossa nova, and classical, has been well-received, and she has been credited with helping to bring jazz back into the mainstream. Her influence extends to her role as a "TikTok jazz ambassador" and her hosting of the weekly music show Happy Harmonies on BBC Radio 3. In 2025, she released her new album "A Matter of Time" and was recognized as one of Time’s Women of the Year. Laufey's contributions to the music industry have also been recognized in her home country, where she has received multiple Icelandic Music Awards and the President's Export Prize.
