Larry Loftis

Larry Loftis is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and international bestselling author known for his work in nonfiction narrative history, particularly focusing on World War II espionage and biography. Before pursuing writing full-time, Loftis worked as a corporate attorney and adjunct professor of law. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida, where he served on the Law Review as senior executive editor and senior articles editor. His scholarly legal works have appeared in National Law Journal, Florida Bar Journal, and several university law reviews.

Loftis is the author of four nonfiction espionage thrillers. His debut, "Into the Lion's Mouth," explores the exploits of Dusko Popov, a double agent for the Abwehr, MI5, MI6, and the FBI, who inspired the character James Bond. "Code Name: Lise" recounts the story of Odette Sansom, recognized as one of World War II's most decorated spies. "The Princess Spy" details the life of Aline Griffith, Countess of Romanones, an American who became an operative for the OSS. "The Watchmaker's Daughter" is a biography of Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch watchmaker who saved Jewish lives during the Nazi occupation.

Loftis's books have been reviewed by publications including The Washington Post, New York Post, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal. He is a three-time recipient of the Florida Book Award, and his works have been translated into multiple languages, reaching readers in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Taiwan, India, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

In addition to his writing, Loftis is active as a public speaker and media contributor. He has appeared on Smithsonian Channel's "America's Hidden Stories" to discuss the James Bond connection in "Into the Lion's Mouth," and on the television program "Huckabee" to discuss "The Watchmaker's Daughter." He has also spoken at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library as part of programming for its Auschwitz exhibition. All four of his books have been optioned for major motion picture development, with Loftis involved in writing the screenplays.
