Larry Kasanoff

Larry Kasanoff, Chairman and CEO of Threshold Entertainment, is the Producer or Executive Producer of all "Mortal Kombat" media, including the original "Mortal Kombat," its sequel "Mortal Kombat Annihilation," the spin-off series "Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm" and "Mortal Kombat: Conquest," and the 2021 reboot of "Mortal Kombat". This body of work includes three Number One films, a television series, an animated series, platinum-selling soundtracks, direct-to-DVD, and a live tour.

Besides "Mortal Kombat," Kasanoff has produced an array of films, including "Blood Diner," "Blue Steel," "True Lies," and "Lego: The Adventures of Clutch Powers". He served as the Executive Producer of "True Lies," a box-office hit film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by James Cameron. Additionally, he directed and produced the 2012 animated film "Foodfight!".

Kasanoff previously served as president and co-founder of several companies, including Lightstorm Entertainment, which he co-founded with James Cameron in 1990. Prior to that, he founded Vestron Pictures' genre subsidiary Lightning Pictures in 1986. At Lightstorm Entertainment, he supervised production, marketing, publicity, and merchandising for the four-time Academy Award-winning hit, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," directed by James Cameron. In 1993, he founded Threshold Entertainment. In 2025, he formed The Cartoon Coalition, a new production venture focused on animated movies, TV shows, and theme park attractions, where he will serve as CEO.

With over 200 feature films to his credit, including Academy Award-winning Best Picture "Platoon" and "Dirty Dancing," Kasanoff has a wealth of experience. These achievements are not limited to film; he has also packaged or produced video projects with several of the world’s biggest talents in the music world, such as Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, and Dick Clark. For "Terminator 2," he produced MTV’s top video of the year, “You Could Be Mine” with Gun’s ‘N Roses.

Apart from his illustrious film and music career, Kasanoff is also an author. In 2023, he released a self-help book titled "A Touch of the Madness: How to Be More Innovative in Work and Life… by Being a Little Crazy". Kasanoff holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA from Cornell University.
