Landry Shamet

Landry Shamet is a professional basketball player and shooting guard for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Wichita State Shockers and was selected 26th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA draft. At Wichita State, Shamet was recognized for his long-distance shooting, ball handling, and decision-making, averaging double figures in scoring while contributing to Wichita State's national competitiveness. He helped lead the Shockers to the NCAA Tournament each season he played, averaging 14.9 points and 5.2 assists per game as a sophomore. His collegiate accolades include First-team All-AAC, First-team All-MVC, and MVC Freshman of the Year honors.

Shamet began his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he scored a career-high 29 points off the bench in a home victory over the Washington Wizards, including a Sixers rookie record eight three-pointers. He became a valuable floor spacer alongside players such as Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. Shamet has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and Washington Wizards. As a member of the Clippers, he contributed to a 31-point comeback against Golden State in Game 2 of a first-round series, hitting the game-winning three-pointer with 16.5 seconds left in a 135-131 victory, which stands as the largest comeback in NBA postseason history.

After a stint in the NBA G League with the Westchester Knicks, Shamet returned from injury and signed a first-team contract with the New York Knicks. He quickly established himself as a reliable sharpshooter off the bench. Shamet averaged 6.0 points, 1.5 three-pointers, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.7 assists while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 47.5 percent from three-point range in 16.3 minutes per game during the Knicks' playoff run. His clutch shooting was evident throughout the postseason, including a critical three-pointer in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers to tie the game with 44.3 seconds left during a 22-point comeback victory.

Shamet has been part of the two largest comebacks in NBA playoff history. He made timely shots throughout the Finals series, scoring 13 points in both Game 1 and Game 2, and averaged six points in the postseason while ranking second on the team in three-point percentage. His consistent play contributed to the Knicks capturing an NBA championship and an NBA Cup title.
