Lacretta

Lacretta is an actress and comedian whose background in musical theater has informed a career across stage, film, and television. She began her acting journey on the theater stage and made her Broadway debut in the production of "Disaster!" at the Nederlander Theatre in New York, originating the role of Levora Verona. Her stage credits include portraying Gary Coleman in "Avenue Q" at Barter Theatre in Virginia, Paulette in "Legally Blonde" at Barter Theatre, and participating in the first national tour of "The Book of Mormon" (Latter Day Company).

Lacretta transitioned from stage to screen, utilizing her theatrical training to adapt to television and film. She has appeared as a guest star on "Law & Order," "30 Rock," Comedy Central's "Broad City," and FOX's "Gotham." In film, she played Suzi Teplitsky in the romantic comedy "Second Act," directed by Peter Segal.

Her breakthrough came with the lead recurring role of Donna Gurgs Gurganous in the sitcom "Night Court." Lacretta portrays the bailiff alongside presiding judge Abby Stone and public defender Dan Fielding.

In developing her character, Lacretta drew inspiration from the original series' bailiffs, blending elements from previous portrayals to create her own interpretation. As the series progressed, her character was promoted to chief bailiff, expanding her comedic presence on the show. Off-screen, Lacretta has contributed to community initiatives, including announcing the first Streamers for Education Scholarship for Black women pursuing careers in STEM, digital media, and film, demonstrating her commitment to representation and advocacy in the entertainment industry.
