Kimi Räikkönen

Kimi Raikkonen, known by the nickname The Iceman, is a Finnish former racing driver recognized for his career in Formula One. Raikkonen competed with teams including Sauber, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus, and Alfa Romeo. After early success in Finnish, Nordic, and European karting, he transitioned to racing cars and won two British-based Formula Renault championships. Despite having only 23 official races before entering Formula One, Raikkonen established a reputation for longevity and achievement in motorsport.

Raikkonen joined McLaren, replacing Mika Hakkinen, and became a strong title contender, finishing second in the championship behind Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso in separate seasons. He secured seven victories in one season, including a win at the Japanese Grand Prix after starting 17th. Raikkonen received the F1 Racing "Driver of the Year" and Autosport "International Racing Driver of the Year" awards.

Raikkonen won the World Drivers' Championship in his first year with Ferrari, surpassing McLaren teammates Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by a single point. He achieved 21 Grand Prix wins, the most by any Finnish driver in Formula One history. Raikkonen holds records for the longest gap between Grand Prix wins and the largest gap between first and last career wins. Raikkonen also competed in the World Rally Championship with Citroen and participated in NASCAR, racing in both the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Championship. After his WRC stint, he returned to Formula One with Lotus-Renault, where his radio exchange, "leave me alone, I know what I'm doing," became widely recognized. Raikkonen later rejoined Ferrari and concluded his career with Alfa Romeo.

Upon retirement, Raikkonen held the record for the most Grand Prix starts in Formula One history with 349. He is the most successful Finnish Formula One driver by several metrics, including the fifth-most podium finishes, third-most fastest laps, and second-most race starts in the sport.
