Kevin McHale Biography
Kevin McHale is a retired power forward who played for the Boston Celtics for his entire career. He teamed with Robert Parish and Larry Bird to form one of the greatest frontlines in NBA history. During his 13-year career, McHale won three NBA titles and was a two-time Sixth Man of the Year winner. He was also a seven-time All-Star, six-time All-Defensive team selection and chosen to the All-NBA first team. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999 and is a member of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. McHale was also honored as one of the league's greatest players of all time by being named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, with The Athletic ranking McHale as the 49th greatest player in NBA history. McHale's number 32 jersey was retired by the Celtics in 1994.
After his playing career, McHale served as the general manager and coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, serving 15 seasons, and as the head coach for the Houston Rockets from 2011-2015. He is one of six members of the 1985–1986 Celtics' championship team to serve as an NBA head coach. He later went on to be an on-air analyst for Turner Sports.
