Kevin Abstract

Kevin Abstract is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, producer, and director recognized for his contributions to hip-hop, alternative rap, and digital media. Born Clifford Ian Simpson, Abstract is best known as the founder and leader of the hip-hop group Brockhampton. He began making music as a high school student and released early mixtapes, followed by the self-released albums "MTV1987" and "American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story," which established his presence in the indie rap scene.

Abstract assembled Brockhampton from fellow creatives he met on a Kanye West fan forum. The group gained widespread attention with the "Saturation" trilogy and the major-label debut "Iridescence," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. With Brockhampton, Abstract served as creative director, lead songwriter, and public face, contributing to eight studio albums.

As a solo artist, Abstract has explored new musical directions, including the major label debut "Arizona Baby" and the expanded "Ghettobaby" EP, which introduced a raw, guitar-driven sound. Following Brockhampton's disbandment, he released "Blanket," the mixtape "Glue," and the album "Blush." Abstract co-founded the record label Juno with Dominic Fike, with whom he also forms the duo Geezer.

He also co-founded Video Store, a record label and apparel company.
