Kerry Barrett

Kerry Barrett is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and TEDx speaker with a career in television spanning more than two decades. Barrett began her career as an anchor and producer at KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she became one of the youngest full-time weeknight anchors at the station. She went on to serve as a reporter and fill-in anchor at ABC affiliate KNXV in Phoenix, where she also co-hosted the magazine program "Sonoran Living," before moving to Salt Lake City to co-anchor "Eyewitness News Today" for KSL-TV.

Barrett later joined WTXF in Philadelphia, anchoring "Good Day Philadelphia" and the station's prime evening newscasts, before moving to WNBC to anchor "Today in New York" on NBC 4 New York. Among her notable assignments was a two-week embed at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq, where she produced and reported a 30-part series on the deployment of local airmen. Throughout her broadcast journalism career, Barrett earned honors including an Emmy Award in Breaking News from the New York chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, an Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence, a first-place award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and recognition from the Utah Broadcasters Association and the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Barrett's career in live television was shaped by her experience overcoming a fear of public speaking, which she transformed into a professional strength and the foundation of a second career. Through Kerry Barrett Consulting, she works as an on-camera coach, corporate trainer, and keynote speaker, advising Fortune 100 companies and executives on media training and on-camera readiness. She is also the founder of The VIQ Academy and the creator of the proprietary MVP Your VIQ training framework.

Barrett is recognized as a thought leader in communication, visibility, and influence. Her keynote, "The Relatability Index," draws on a proprietary national research study to help business leaders understand the gap between their self-perception and audience perception.
