
Keith Carradine is an actor, singer, and songwriter whose career spans more than five decades across film, television, and Broadway. Carradine began his acting career in the original Broadway run of "Hair," starting in the chorus and later performing lead roles as Woof and Claude. His first notable film appearance was in Robert Altman's "McCabe & Mrs. Miller." He gained recognition in independent-minded films such as "Nashville," "Welcome to L.A.," and "Pretty Baby."
Carradine's breakthrough came with his role as Tom Frank in Altman's ensemble film "Nashville." He performed the song "I'm Easy" in the movie, which became a popular hit and earned him a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Following this success, Carradine signed with Asylum Records and released two albums: "I'm Easy" and "Lost & Found." His film work includes roles in Ridley Scott's "The Duellists," Louis Malle's "Pretty Baby," Alan Rudolph's "Choose Me," and "The Moderns." He also appeared in "The Long Riders," alongside his brothers, portraying the Younger brothers.
In addition to his film career, Carradine found success on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Will Rogers in "The Will Rogers Follies." He won the Outer Critics Circle Award for his performance in "Foxfire" opposite Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. Carradine was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical for his work in "Hands on a Hardbody."
On television, Carradine is known for his roles as Wild Bill Hickok on HBO's "Deadwood," FBI agent Frank Lundy on Showtime's "Dexter," Lou Solverson in the first season of FX's "Fargo," Wyatt on CBS's "The Big Bang Theory," and President Conrad Dalton on CBS's "Madam Secretary." His performance in the miniseries "Chiefs" earned him an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Special. Carradine also starred in "Ain't Them Bodies Saints," which received recognition at the Sundance Film Festival for cinematography.
Carradine has received several honors, including the Special Achievement Gregory Peck Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and induction into the Hall of Great Western Performers. He appeared in the Southern Gothic musical thriller "The Devil and the Daylong Brothers," continuing his work in character-driven film, television, and stage productions.
