Kate Douglass

Kate Douglass is recognized as a leading swimmer in international competition, known for her versatility across multiple strokes and distances. Douglass is a 28-time All-American, 15-time NCAA champion, and five-time Olympic medalist. Her career progression includes collegiate success, an Olympic debut in Tokyo, and a prominent role on the global swimming stage.

Douglass trained at the University of Virginia, where she contributed to three NCAA Division I Championships and earned 15 gold and six silver medals at the NCAA championships. She received the Honda Sports Award as the top college female swimmer twice. Douglass graduated with a degree in statistics, a field that has influenced her approach to training by incorporating data analysis and sensor technology to refine her swimming technique.

On the Olympic stage, Douglass has earned medals in every color. She debuted in Tokyo with a bronze medal in the 200-meter individual medley. She later secured Olympic gold in the women's 200-meter breaststroke at the Paris Olympic Games, setting an American record. Douglass also won gold in the 4x100-meter medley relay and silver in both the 200-meter individual medley and the 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the Paris Games, concluding the Olympics as a five-time medalist, including two golds.

Douglass has set multiple world records, including surpassing Rebecca Soni's 200-meter breaststroke mark and breaking the short-course 100-meter freestyle record, becoming the first woman to swim the event in under 50 seconds. She also became the fastest woman to swim 50 meters in freestyle at the Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis.

Douglass has received several honors, including CSCAA Women's Swimmer of the Year, ACC Women's Swimmer of the Year, and ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She has also been awarded two Golden Goggles awards for Female Athlete of the Year and Relay of the Year. Douglass continues to be recognized among the top athletes in competitive swimming, maintaining a focus on performance and technique in her ongoing career.
