Kate Bolduan

Kate Bolduan is an American broadcast journalist and co-anchor of "CNN News Central," airing weekdays from 7 to 10 a.m. ET on CNN. She also hosts "5 Things with Kate Bolduan," a news program that breaks down the day’s five key stories. Before joining CNN, Bolduan worked as a general assignment reporter for WTVD-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina, and began her television career as a production assistant for NBC News and MSNBC in Washington, D.C.

Bolduan joined CNN as a national correspondent for CNN Newsource, delivering breaking news coverage and feature reports for more than 800 affiliates. During her tenure, she covered the United States presidential election, the Minneapolis bridge collapse, the O.J. Simpson armed robbery case, and the retirement of the NASA Space Shuttle fleet. As a CNN congressional correspondent, she reported on the activities of the U.S. House and Senate. As a general assignment correspondent, she covered Supreme Court arguments over the Affordable Care Act and led coverage of cases such as McDonald v. City of Chicago and Salazar v. Buono.

Six years into her time at CNN, Bolduan launched the network's morning show "New Day" from the New York studio, becoming the youngest morning show host in the channel's history. She later anchored and hosted "At This Hour," providing live coverage of major events, analysis of current topics, and interviews with political figures. Bolduan also anchored "State of America with Kate Bolduan" on CNN International, which covered the U.S. presidential campaign for a global audience and later focused on U.S. news and affairs. She played a key role in CNN's coverage of the presidential election during the coronavirus pandemic, reporting live from Pennsylvania as Joe Biden secured the presidency.

Bolduan contributed to CNN's award-winning coverage of the presidential elections and has received honors including the Gracie Award for Outstanding Anchor and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding Interview. Beyond anchoring, she has participated in civic engagement initiatives, moderating discussions at the Marie Claire Power Trip Conference and the Women in the World summit, as well as a conversation at the Woodrow Wilson Center on disinformation and misinformation in mass media.
