Kara Young

Kara Young has gained recognition for her vibrant performances both on Broadway and off-Broadway. Her acting debut on Broadway came in 2021 with Lynn Nottage's play "Clyde's" at the Hayes Theater. In the following year, Young took on the role of Viola in the off-Broadway revival of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" at the Classical Theatre of Harlem. Her ability to captivate audiences led her to become the first Black actress to be nominated for a Tony in four consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025).

Beyond her work on stage, Young has also made her mark in film and television. Her film credits include "Hair Wolf," "Chemical Hearts," and "We Strangers." On the small screen, Young has appeared in series such as "The Punisher," "The Staircase," and "I'm a Virgo."

In 2024, Young's performance in "Purlie Victorious" earned her the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. That same year, she also received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Play. Young's exceptional talent continued to be recognized in 2025, earning her the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Performer in a Play for "Table 17." She also received the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play for "Purpose."
