Kahleah Copper Biography
Kahleah Copper is a professional basketball player best known for her explosive athleticism and leadership as a star guard-forward for the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She currently represents the Phoenix Mercury.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Copper played college basketball at Rutgers University, where she became one of the program’s all-time leading scorers and earned All-Big Ten honors. Selected seventh overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics, she was traded to Chicago the following year, where she steadily developed into one of the league’s most dynamic two-way players. Copper’s breakout came during the 2021 season, when she led the Sky to their first-ever WNBA championship and was named Finals MVP for her dominant performance. Known for her relentless energy, scoring versatility, and defensive intensity, she has earned multiple All-Star selections. She was traded to Phoenix in February 2024.
Beyond the WNBA, Copper has competed internationally, representing the United States and playing overseas during the offseason. Off the court, she is recognized for her leadership, work ethic, and commitment to inspiring young athletes, particularly in her hometown of Philadelphia.
