K Camp, born Kristopher Thomas Campbell and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer known for his contributions to hip-hop and melodic rap. Campbell began his recording career in Atlanta's underground music scene before reaching a national audience. He first gained attention with the single "Money Baby," which led to a deal with Interscope Records. Both "Money Baby" and "Cut Her Off" achieved platinum certifications from the RIAA and preceded his debut EP, "In Due Time."
"Cut Her Off," featuring Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz, peaked at number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100, was nominated for Best Club Banger at the BET Hip Hop Awards, and reached number one on USA Today's Urban Airplay chart. In the same period, five of Campbell's tracks topped the Billboard Twitter Real-Time survey, more than any other artist. He was recognized by Rolling Stone as a "New Artist You Need To Know" and included in the XXL Freshman Class alongside Fetty Wap, Tink, and Vince Staples.
Campbell's first studio album, "Only Way Is Up," reached number 20 on the Billboard 200, driven by the double platinum-certified single "Comfortable." The album featured collaborations with Snoop Dogg, T.I., and Jeremih. After navigating a restrictive production deal, Campbell was released from the agreement and went on to release his second album, "Rare Sound," named after his own label. He founded the record label Rare Sound, reclaiming creative and business control over his music career.
Campbell released "Wayy 2 Kritical," which included the viral hit "Lottery (Renegade)," the first sound on TikTok to reach 20 million videos, propelled by a dance challenge. He credited 14-year-old choreographer Jalaiah Harmon for originating the Renegade dance. His follow-up, "K.I.S.S. 5," appeared on the Billboard 200 and received recognition from XXL, Complex, and ABC News, featuring collaborations with Ari Lennox, 6LACK, and Wale. Campbell continued to evolve as an artist, releasing his sixth studio album, "FLOAT," which Rolling Stone highlighted for the track "Tables Turn." His studio album "Built Different" further established his presence as a versatile voice in Atlanta hip-hop.
