Justin G. Nelson

Justin G. Nelson is the co-founder and president of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, recognized as the world’s largest LGBTQ+ business development and economic advocacy organization. Under his leadership, the chamber has achieved significant victories in statewide inclusion, expanded to more than 50 U.S. and 29 international affiliate chambers, and established itself as the exclusive certifying body for LGBT-owned businesses in the private sector. Nelson’s strategic vision also led to the creation of the National Business Inclusion Consortium, which unites diverse business organizations to promote economic opportunity for LGBTQ+, women, ethnic and racial minorities, people with disabilities, and veteran-owned businesses.

Nelson is a public speaker and advisor, consulting with senior leaders in Congress, the White House, and multinational corporations to advance LGBTQ+-inclusive business practices. He has served on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Council on Underserved Communities during multiple administrations and is frequently invited to speak on economic equity and LGBTQ+ equality at national and international forums. His expertise in public policy and corporate inclusion is informed by prior roles, including director of federal affairs at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and as a U.S. Senate aide, where he developed a reputation for effective advocacy and coalition-building.

Throughout his career, Nelson has received recognition, including being named to OUT Magazine’s Top 100, CEO Magazine’s Top Leaders We Admire, Washingtonian’s 500 Most Influential People, and the Global LGBT Power 100 by The Guardian. He has also been honored with the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Excellence Award and the Disability:IN Global Disability Leadership Award. Nelson’s public advocacy and achievements highlight his commitment to economic inclusion and the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights in business.
