Julia Marino

Julia Marino is one of the most innovative and accomplished American snowboarders competing in slopestyle and big air. She started skiing at age three, transitioned to snowboarding around age nine, and began full-time competition by age 12—eventually attending Stratton Mountain School and later training in Breckenridge to pursue her snowboard career.

Marino burst onto the elite scene in 2017 at the X Games, where she won gold in slopestyle and bronze in big air, becoming the first woman to land a double trick in a slopestyle contest—a Cab double underflip and a double backflip in the same run. For her rookie X Games performance, she also earned a silver at Hafjell, concluding the season with multiple podiums and establishing herself as a contest standout.

At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Marino captured a silver medal in women's slopestyle, earning the first medal for Team USA at those Games. On her medal-winning run, she executed back-to-back 900s and a double cork 1080, scoring 87.68 points and overcoming falls in her first and third runs. She withdrew from the big air event due to controversy over a Prada-branded snowboard, which she removed for safety reasons and ultimately opted not to ride.

Over her career with U.S. Ski & Snowboard since 2016, Marino has collected multiple X Games podiums—including seven total medals and a 2017 X Games win—plus numerous World Cup and Crystal Globe titles.
