Judd Pillot

Judd Pillot is a writer, producer, and director with a career spanning more than three decades in prime-time television and film. Early in his career as a documentarian, Pillot specialized in transforming complex information into engaging and memorable viewing experiences. This foundation supported his transition into scripted comedy, where he became a showrunner in Hollywood.

An Emmy Award winner and recipient of the Humanitas Award, Pillot has run television shows including "COACH," "Mad About You," "Just Shoot Me," "Eight Simple Rules," "According to Jim," and "Something So Right." He served as executive producer on the "COACH" reboot for NBC/Universal and created and executive produced "Something So Right," which aired for two seasons on NBC and ABC and received a Humanitas Prize. His feature film work includes co-writing the screenplay for "Crazy on the Outside," starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, J.K. Simmons, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ray Liotta, Kelsey Grammer, and Julie Bowen.

Pillot has also been nominated for a Directors Guild of America Award, a Golden Globe, and has received two Writers Guild Award nominations. He earned a Cable ACE Award for Best Documentary for "How to Raise a Street Smart Child" and a DGA Award nomination in the same category. Beyond comedy, Pillot wrote and produced the USA Network drama "Operating Instructions" and wrote the action thrillers "Us/Them" and "No Americans Will Be Harmed."

Internationally, Pillot consulted for Sony Pictures International on "Voronins," the Russian adaptation of "Everybody Loves Raymond," a project that earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest number of episodes for an adaptation. During his tenure in Moscow, "The Voronins" achieved its highest ratings. Pillot's time-travel comedy "Pizza & Past" was adapted for Sony Pictures International as "Tequila Reposado" and premiered on Amazon Prime.

Pillot's expertise includes teaching, consulting, and guest lecturing. He was invited to Singapore's Ngee Ann Polytechnic to present a three-day writing and showrunning seminar. He is a faculty member of UCLA's professional television writing program, where he shares his industry experience with emerging writers. As a keynote speaker and industry expert, Pillot addresses topics such as "If You Can Speak, You Can Write," "Found In Translation," and "TV Production: From Creation to Congratulations or Cancellation." He continues to write and develop projects for broadcast, streaming, cable, and feature films.
