Juan Luis Guerra

Juan Luis Guerra Seijas, born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is a celebrated Dominican musician, singer, composer, and record producer. Renowned for his fusion of merengue, bachata, bolero, jazz, and gospel, Guerra has sold over 30 million records worldwide and has amassed numerous accolades, including 31 Latin Grammy Awards and three Grammy Awards.

Guerra's musical journey began in the 1980s with his band 4.40, named after the frequency of the fictional radio station "4:40 FM." This station concept inspired his 2023 EP, Radio Güira, which blends genres such as blues, jazz, mambo, and merengue. The EP received critical acclaim and won Album of the Year at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards, among other honors.

His 1990 album Bachata Rosa catapulted him to international fame, featuring hits like "Estrellitas y duendes" and "Bachata rosa." Guerra's music often incorporates traditional Dominican rhythms with contemporary influences, creating a unique sound that resonates globally.

In addition to his musical achievements, Guerra is known for his spiritual journey. In 2000, he became an evangelical Christian and serves as a worship director at the “Más Que Vencedores” church in Santo Domingo.

As of 2025, Guerra continues to perform worldwide. His recent Entre Mar y Palmeras Tour concluded in July 2024, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Bachata Rosa and featuring a mix of his classic hits and new material.
