Joshua Cooper Ramo

Joshua Cooper Rampo is CEO and Chairman of Sornay, an investment and advisory firm. He was previously Vice Chairman and Co-CEO of Kissinger Associates, the advisory firm of former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger, where he worked for 15 years. Ramo has served as lead China advisor on more than $250 billion of transactions across a wide range of industries. He is a member of the boards of directors of FedEx and Starbucks.

Ramo is the author of two New York Times bestsellers about economic and power dynamics in a revolutionary age: "The Age of the Unthinkable" (2009) and "The Seventh Sense: Power, Fortune and Survival in an Age of Networks." Trained as an economist, Ramo was previously the youngest senior and foreign editor in TIME magazine's history. His first book, "No Visible Horizon", chronicled his experiences as a competitive aerobatic pilot.

A Mandarin speaker who has been called “one of China’s leading foreign-born scholars” by the World Economic Forum, Ramo's papers on China's development, including "The Beijing Consensus" and "Brand China," have been widely distributed in China and abroad.

Ramo has appeared frequently on television, including programs as "Meet the Press," "Fareed Zakaria GPS" and "Charlie Rose." In 2008, he shared a Peabody and Emmy award for his work as China analyst for NBC during the Beijing Olympic Games, a role he reprised for NBC at the 2016 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. His writing has appeared in TIME, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and his travel essays were published in Departures Magazine, where he was an international editor.

Raised in Los Ranchos, New Mexico, Ramo holds degrees from the University of Chicago and New York University. He is an avid pilot and motorcyclist.
