Josh Ross is a Canadian country singer-songwriter known for blending contemporary country music with rock influences and emotionally driven songwriting. Ross's career began after attending Western University on a football scholarship, where injuries shifted his focus from athletics to music. He worked in construction management while performing at local venues, eventually gaining recognition at the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Boots and Hearts Festival, which led him to pursue songwriting in Nashville.
Ross established himself through independent releases before achieving a breakthrough with the ballad "First Taste of Gone." The song reached the Top 5 on the Canadian Country chart and entered the Canadian Hot 100, initially released independently before Ross signed with Universal Music Canada. He made his Grand Ole Opry debut, performing "First Taste of Gone" and "Trouble." Ross has shared stages with artists such as Lee Brice, Chase Rice, Brantley Gilbert, and Nickelback, and performed at the Grey Cup halftime show alongside Jordan Davis and Tyler Hubbard.
Ross's debut EP, "Complicated," marked a significant point in his career, earning him a JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year. The project featured "Trouble," which achieved Double Platinum certification in Canada and RIAA Gold certification in the United States. At the Canadian Country Music Awards, Ross received six nominations and won Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year. He also received the Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award at the CMA Awards and was named CCMA Entertainer of the Year. Ross has accumulated more than 950 million career streams and has been recognized as an Artist to Watch by Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, MusicRow, and the Grand Ole Opry.
Ross expanded his presence in country music with the anthem "Single Again," which became his first No. 1 hit at U.S. country radio, making him the first male Canadian country artist in nearly 30 years to top the U.S. Country Airplay chart. He followed this success with "Hate How You Look," which also reached No. 1 on U.S. country radio, giving Ross consecutive chart-topping singles. His debut album, "Later Tonight," features 15 tracks that highlight his songwriting and vocal range, with collaborations from industry figures such as Ashley Gorley and Ryan Hurd. Ross sold out his first headlining tour in Canada and completed his debut U.S. headlining "Single Again Tour." He leads the CCMA Awards with seven nominations, tying for the most nominations among all artists.
